In August 2007 40 young people frome:merge's Friday night Youth Congregation went away for three days' Sanctuary at Bradley Wood scout camp in nearby Brighouse. It was a wonderful time where we were all encouraged to seenk some peace and sanctuary, think about life, enjoy some time with friends and spend our evenings sitting around the campfire singing songs and telling ridiculous jokes. The highlight of the trip for most was the visit on the final day by two monks from a friary in Bradford, who shattered all of our illusions of what monks looked like, and heartily joined us round the fire to teach us some new songs.
